WHAT GIVES?

The Perspective has unconfirmed reports that the vehicles used by the Alaska State Troopers have tinted windows. The Perspective is unable to confirm these reports at this date, but a walk past the city police and fire lots show that city vehicles have tinted windows. What gives with the double standard, or should the law be “THE LAW”.

You're crusade is almost not worth discussing.

If you have a problem with the law, get into a different profession - or do what lawmakers throughout the century have done - campaign to change it.

Alaska is not the only state to use Tinted Windows laws and is not the most strict state.

Stop being an idiot and find out what your regulations are.

If, for a moment you had a clue, you'd be worth discussing this issue, but because you have a beef - all you're doing is shouting from the rooftops like a spoiled child about your "little" issue. And it makes you look stupid.

The law is the law, is the law. And obviously you think it is ok to break the law.

Oh - and if you Google it online, you'll figure out one thing - those windows in the picture of the vehicles... They meet the requirements and would not be ticketed.

Just because you - or your coworkers got a ticket for tinted windows - does NOT make you above the law.

And screaming about it - as if you knew what the law was, without having researched it, makes you look just plain dumb.

Go blow off steam somewhere else - you're starting to be ridiculous.

You should be contacting the lawmakers of our Great State or City and changing the law if you had such a problem instead of trying to make Police Agencies look bad (which you aren't, because YOU are the one who is in the wrong here) - work on changing the law itself.

Research your information before you go posting it. Get "in the Know". Because now you're just driveling on - looking for a flame war.

Now - go forth and get educated.

I don't get your point? those vehicles are well within the law and not after market (which is the purpose of the tinted windows law) as I read it

A couple of points....

As long as the driver, front passenger windows and windshield are not too dark, a vehicles is generally ok. back and side windows behind the front row of seats can be darker.

But in regards to the second paragraph in the first anonymous posting... what do you think he's doing? Exactly what you tell him to, "campaigning to change it." Duh.

And how is it "obvious" that the Perspective "thinks it's ok to break the law?" Sounds like he's trying to make sure it's evenly enforced (which I think it is, since neither the cop or the fireman's SUVs appear to be in violation).

Perspective, do you think it was a good idea to give the Troopers a copy of your Super Cooper post? Seems they've spread it far and wide, because only those in (and related to) law enforcement love the pigs that much.

Too bad you're not selling ads on your site, all this new traffic is sure boosting your numbers.

It would be against the Perspectives moral code to talk about someone behind his back, it is much better to give the person a forum for rebuttal. These blogs have boosted the number of hits, much like a "Shock Jock" on the radio. Hopefully, the new readers will take the time to read some of the other posts, and find that the Perspective can offer some worthwhile viewpoints. (side note) The Perspective has lived car free since moving to Alaska, so he has no vested interest in the discussion of automobile laws, other than boosting his blog hits.

Ahhh - so you don't care who's feelings you hurt - or how you put them on the stand (because they are doing their job)--- just to get a few blog hits?

Don't you even realize the repercussions a Trooper can face with just a "hint" of wrongdoing?

This is just "fun" for you?

You put a man up on a webpage - openly critiscizing him for doing his job.

Do you not comprehend you possibly put this person in line for an Administrative Investigation? You put his job on the line? That you did it without regard to his personal feelings or possible loss of job?

All because you want blog hits?

I'm done responding to you.

You just put yourself below slime.

And Mr. or Ms. Anonymous - go read the links - and then REALIZE that the original post was put out for a very "PERSONAL - VINDICTIVE" reason... Because the blog's owner has a friend (whatever you want to call it) who "Obviously" was cited for being in violation of the window tinting law.

And don't you think it would be ridiculous for the city or the state to have vehicles that would break their own laws?

You've lost one "flamer".

The cops have tinted windows! Lol, what a jackass.

Arguing with the Perspective is like playing basketball with a retarded kid and then calling him for double dribble. Somethings you just got to let slide.

dude I have read this whole diatribe about some trooper in your town and the verbal wrath you brought on yourself, being from a small town here also all I can say is your screwed man. Don't fart the wrong way or they will bust your ass

This is way better than the Mirror! I really like the point Anonymous made too, right on. Hey, I know how well armed the USPS are when they are pissed off, I wouldn’t leave my name either. Now I’m not a journalist but I play on TV and using the links provided below found that tinted windows fall under 13 AAC 04.223 and comes with a $150 “correctable” fine. Front side windows are legal to 70% tint, rear and back windows at 40%. The higher the percentage, the lighter the tint. 5% tint is called “limo” or “Chiniak Stoner”. 0% tint is referred to as “brick wall” or “panel van” as in IF THIS 0% TINT IS ROCKIN’,DON’T COME-A-KNOCKIN‘. Why anyone in Kodiak needs to tint their windows makes about as much sense as buying expensive sunglasses here for the nine sunny days a year. And what is the purpose of tinted windows on Smokey’s Ride? I assume it is to protect the identity of those arrested until In The Courts comes out. I love In The Courts. Beats the crap out of Teeing Off. And how can a person tell what percentage the tint is by looking at it? What if you have 41% tint on the rear glass of your killer 1998 Dodge Caravan and get a ticket? Can this be proven? Actually, don’t respond, I really don’t care. Here’s the one I’d like to see more crackdown on: 13 AAC 04.005(b) Operating A Vehicle Modified To Be Too High or Too Low. Low I’m cool with cuz I have urban influences but these roll over monster trucks on public roads need to go. Where can I find the standards for Too High and Too Low? Is there a liftedlowereddude.com?

Anonymous said...

Ya what is the deal the with all the trucks that are modified too high? They are all over this town and constantly throw rocks up on cars. Just the other day my buddy was bitching b/c a big gray dodge pickup with tinted windows threw a rock up on his windshield and busted it. He showed me the truck which has to be at least 3.5 feet off the ground. With the slick roads around here I can't wait for it to take a corner to fast and roll. Shouldn't the cops do something about this? Maybe they should be out looking at this problem too. I bet you better watch out if your mail truck is too high......:)

Anonymous said...

I'd be more concerned about the mail truck driver being too high.

Anonymous said...

or the mail truck driver being to drunk...again

Drunk you say? Whatever do you mean?

Instead of trying to argue with this idiot make a complaint with the Post office downtown and with KMXT and ask if this is who they want to have representing them in your community, I have already written a letter to KMXT because I use to listen to his show on there on Sundays from 6-8. I'm also sure the Police department would clear up the tinted window issue he accuses them of
