THE GREAT FIREWALL OF NBC?

Leading up to the Olympic games in Beijing, there were many stories about China lifting some restriction it has placed on the internet, sometimes referred to as the “Great Firewall of China”, in an effort to appease the many foreign visitors expected for the games.

The Kodiak Perspective has a confession to make, he enjoys the Olympics. So he was excited to learn about all the different sites where one could watch the games on the web.

But if you actually try to access these broadcasts, you will find that they are unavailable in the United States. It seems that NBC has the exclusive rights.

Note the Red Bar which reads: This channel is not available in your country.

NBC restricts internet viewers even further, by denying access to those who do not pay for television service, either by cable, direct TV, or satellite.

Do we live in the land of the free, or is it really a controlled corporate state?
