FINALLY, AN HONEST ANSWER

Choosing health care providers here in Kodiak can be an ordeal. If you have insurance, you may start by perusing a list of preferred providers. The Kodiak Perspective has been seeing a counselor for about 6 months. There is only one preferred provider in this field from this insurance company. On his first visit he expressed his concern, and hoped that this situation would be remedied.

The Kodiak Perspective has gotten the run around for these 6 months. The counselor, like many of the professionals, does not concern herself with the details of billing, they like to appear to be above that level. Finally on New Year’s Eve, The Kodiak Perspective had an appointment with one of the staff of the facility. When he showed up, that person was not available, and another person, lower down the ladder, who doesn’t know enough to lie to the customer, finally gave an honest answer.

They are not a preferred provider for any insurance company, because then they would have to accept less money for their services.

In other parts of the country, one has more choices of providers, but here in Kodiak we have few options.

Same stuff happens at the hospital. Most insurance only pays for the standard fees and you get stuck with the excess. There is always excess, but we Kodiakans are so used to paying Cadillac prices for Yugo services we just wince and pay up.
ENOUGH!
If we can get the ADN to resume service with public outcry, why can't we get our doctors, dentists, and counselors to come down from the lofty financial nests they have built for themselves ?
Good luck my friend, BTW do you know if your employer (assuming you have one) has an EAP progam?
Peace
